Eggvault Labyrinth

What Is the Eggvault Labyrinth?

The Eggvault Labyrinth is a run-based roguelite mode — the counterpoint to the Mountain grind. Where the Mountain is a grind, the Eggvault is a rush: a fast, self-contained descent that you push as deep as your build allows before returning to the surface.

The Eggvault unlocks after you clear Mountain floor 10. Buried east of the Mountain lies the shell of the Primordial Egg — the egg from which the First Roosters hatched the world. A hooded figure called the Shellwarden runs the entrance. Talk to the Shellwarden, then choose Descend to begin a run.

How a Run Works

Each descent is a single tier, and every tier is five chambers walked left to right. Clear a chamber's enemies to open its door and move on to the next.

  • Chamber 1 is always combat.
  • Chambers 2-4 are rolled from a pool: combat, elite, vault (an artifact chest — see First Rooster Artifacts below), shrine (boon pick), shop, or miniboss.
  • Chamber 5 is always the tier boss — the "Convergence."

Every tier is guaranteed at least one shrine among its rolled chambers. Beat the boss in Chamber 5 to clear the tier, collect your Feather Shards, and return to the hub. Clear a tier and your next run starts at the next tier up. Your active run is saved if you disconnect, so you can pick it back up where you left off.

Shrines — Boon Picks

Each shrine offers you a choice of 3 out of 9 possible boons. A boon lasts for the rest of the current run, so shrine choices shape your build as you descend. The full boon list:

Boon Effect
Iron Yolk+30 max HP and a full heal
Vampiric EdgeHeal 5% max HP per kill
Quick Reflexes+20% movement speed
Steady Hand+10% crit chance
Forgotten Path+50% gold from kills this run
Echoing StrikeFirst hit in each room deals +50% damage
Whisper of Return+1 revive, up to 3
Shellbreaker+30% damage to bosses
Wandering Shard+25% Feather Shards on tier clear

Revives & Failure

You start each run with 2 revives by default. This can be raised by the Whisper of Return boon, the Revenant's Breath artifact, or by buying an Extra Revive in the in-run shop — up to a maximum of 4 revives.

A revive drops you back at the current room's start with 50% HP. If you run out of revives, the Labyrinth claims you — but the rewards from every chamber you already cleared are kept. You can also choose to Retreat between chambers to bank your progress safely without risking a wipe.

Feather Shards & the Two Currencies

Inside a run you juggle two separate currencies. Regular Gold comes from kill drops and is spent at the in-run shop on the Healing Draught and the Extra Revive. It is kept entirely separate from Feather Shards, the meta currency.

Feather Shards are awarded only on a tier clear — roughly 5 + (tier x 3) per clear — and are spent only at the Shellwarden's Shop on First Rooster Artifacts. Because shards come in slowly, expect to complete several runs before you can afford a single artifact.

First Rooster Artifacts

First Rooster Artifacts are pre-run consumables — the mode's meta-progression. Queue one before you descend and it applies at the start of your next tier. You buy them from the Shellwarden with Feather Shards, or earn boss-specific artifacts on a first kill.

Artifact Effect How to Get
Feather of Dawn+10% max HP healed each chamber50 shards or vault drop

The Boss Roster

Every tier boss fights in phases, escalating its attacks as it drops below 75%, 50%, and 25% HP. Everything a boss does is telegraphed — a marked zone shows where an attack will land, so leave it before the attack fires.

Tier Boss Signature Threat
Tier 1The BroodfatherSlam rings, then a cone charge, spawns adds, then enrage
Tier 2Shardbeak the CursedHeavy cones; teleports before striking; shard-burst rings
Tier 3The Molting KingA full-arena orbiting feather tornado plus plume adds
Tier 4AshwingFlame cones and dive-bombs that leave burning patches
Tier 5The YolkmotherVoid rifts, yolk-gaze cones, and a five-point burst

Tier 6 and Beyond

Past tier 5, the Labyrinth becomes an infinite remix. The same five bosses cycle back with stacking HP and damage multipliers, so each loop is tougher than the last. The leaderboard ranks players by highest tier reached, then by total clears.

Tips

  • Shrine boons stack — plan a build across a run rather than picking each boon in isolation.
  • Grab a revive-boosting boon or artifact before you push into the deeper tiers.
  • Wandering Shard pays off most on long clears, where the +25% shards adds up.
  • Spend in-run gold on the Extra Revive when you are pushing into a new tier for the first time.
  • Retreat to bank your shards if a boss is out of reach — cleared-chamber rewards are yours to keep.
  • Queue an artifact every descent so it is never wasted.
